My Style Story

I’m Charlotte. I live in London with my husband Will and wear a vintage‑inspired wardrobe every day. I love whimsy, early plastics and vintage novelty prints, and I believe style is for every day, not saved for special occasions.

My fascination with historical dress goes back as far as I can remember — I was the child who loved dressing up as a Victorian — and I’ve always been drawn to the stories clothes carry. In early adulthood I struggled to find my place in contemporary fashion; trends rarely flattered my hourglass figure and I longed for the structured silhouettes of the 1940s and 1950s. For years I sold vintage on eBay while secretly wishing I could wear it myself. The revelation came the day I finally worked up the courage to ignore my inhibitions and follow my heart.

Vintage style speaks to me in a way modern fashion never has. The moment I started dressing in the styles that truly spoke to me, everything changed: Realising I could make vintage part of my daily life freed me to express my true self. That experience turned me into a fierce advocate for personal style, and for the confidence that comes from dressing in a way that feels authentic. While it might be daunting to diverge from the norm of mainstream fashion at first, these days my wardrobe simply feels as it should — like a natural extension of my personality.

That’s what you’ll find here at Tuppence Ha’penny Vintage: thoughtful curation, personal inspirations, and an invitation to wear what makes you feel like yourself.

I dive even deeper on my Patreon page, with a library of downloadable PDF vintage magazines and regular vintage style sewing pattern releases — to help you explore and cultivate your own vintage wardrobe.
