Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was one of my favourite films growing up. I loved the story, the characters and the oh-so-glamorous, Travilla-designed costumes.
One of my favourite outfits is the travelling ensemble Lorelei wears to board the ocean liner. While it tends to get overshadowed by more showstopping numbers such as the red sequin gowns from the opening musical scene, and the iconic pink satin column gown Marilyn wore for Diamonds, this comparatively understated outfit is just pure chic and deserves a place in cinema history alongside Travilla’s other designs for Marilyn.
