Sailor Collar Expansion

As a special bonus for patrons at Aficionado tier, I'm pleased to introduce the Sailor Collar expansion, compatible with both the Rendezvous jacket and Démoiselle dress (taking the number of possible combinations up to 40!)

From its naval origins in the mid 1800s, nautical style has never been far from the fashion fore. The vogue for sailor fashions has peaked and waned over the decades, with the distinctive collar becoming ubiquitous in Asian school uniforms in the latter half of the 20th century. Sailor blouses and dresses enjoyed a heyday in the 1920s-30s as sportswear, then again during the 1940s due to wartime patriotism. My main design inspirations come from the 1941 Sears catalogue and the 1936 movie Follow the Fleet starring Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire (pictured).

I drafted this collar following original 1940s drafting instructions. The collar has a roll (i.e. stands up slightly at the back neckline) for an elegant, ladies' style - as distinct from the style that sits flat against the neckline, which has a young, more casual vibe.

The length of the collar back is about 7" / 18cm, and it's simple to make it longer or shorter according to your preference.
